The game tells the story of Max Payne, an American ex-cop who comes to Brazil, more specifically the city of São Paulo to work as a bodyguard of White millionaire family. Max goes through ballads from Sao Paulo, slums, sumptuous apartments, River Tietê, among many other places, revealing a web of corruption and crime, installed in the land of mist.

About the story, Max Payne is a cinematic experience, a sort of mix of the game "Uncharted" with the film "two rabbits", and some bits of the game "Heavy Rain". However, the character of Max Payne throughout the game suffers from various existential crises, weaving a bitter and nihilistic character.

Regarding the mechanics of the game, Max Payne is a classic FPS (First person shooter) that maintains the tradition of "Bullet Time", characteristic of the series, which consists in the possibility of delaying the action of time during a shootout. Max has several arms, with the possibility to take cover behind objects, jump, shoot, A nice point is the possibility of being able to use two smaller weapons at the same time as two pistols, getting one in each hand.

From the perspective of game design, "Max Payne 3" consists of essentially a tense gameplay experience. The bitterness of Max Payne, constantly inundated with drugs and drink, plus a mechanical repetitive shots rocked by a story equally tense, makes "Max Payne 3" a gaming experience depression. The game has many good points, but lacked the pace, moments, humor and diversity.

The story constantly puts Max in situations where he has to kill an entire army alone, creating a certain predictability in the gameplay. The game at the end provides an interesting experience, although hard and tense.
